I have been putting off writing this post for most of the day. Besides the fact that I have been doing laundry and running errands and all the miscellaneous things that need to get done when you get home from a vacation, I haven’t wanted to sit down and blog yet. I think it’s because the idea of a post that will encompass a week’s vacation is a bit overwhelming to me. How can I fit everything in? I’m not sure I will, so I think I will break this up into several days.
In case anyone is confused and needs to be caught up, we just spent a week in the happiest place on earth, Disneyland. Let me just say, it might have been the happiest place on earth, had it been warm and sunny. It was kind of cold and a little rainy the whole time we were there, which was like a doubled edged sword, since it was kind of icky, it helped keep the crowds away, but it also wasn’t extremely pleasant for us either. Regardless, we still had lots of fun.
We started out by first going to the beach. We stopped and spent the night in Las Vegas, so we only had a 4 1/2 hour drive on Sunday. Instead of going straight to our hotel, we went to Redondo Beach. We walked around the pier and the kids got to dig in the sand and play on the beach. Now they can officially say that they have played in the Pacific Ocean.
After we had our fill of the ocean air, we went back to our hotel, got settled in and waited for my mom and dad to get there.
The next day we went to Disneyland!
I had gotten a book that had a touring plan in it. It told you which rides to hit first and gave you a schedule for the day. I decided at the last minute not to use that because I knew that if we got off schedule and the kids wanted to do something else, that I would stress out till we got back on the prescribed schedule. So we just winged it, and it worked out pretty well! The first couple of hours we just walked on whatever rides we wanted and rode pretty much everything that was in the area that we were in. Towards the end of the day we had to wait a little bit, but not more than 20 minutes, max.
(Not quite sure what TRMinator is doing here) This was the Finding Nemo ride, that my book said would have a long wait no matter what time you rode. I think we stood in line for about 15 minutes.
Getting ready to drive the cars in Autopia! G-man thought it was pretty cool that he got to drive his own car. We went on this ride again the last day we were there, and they had to make an announcement that the cars don’t run as well when it’s cold. (The weather was definitely the best on the first day!)
While the big kids (Hubby, TRMinator and Grandma) rode Space Mountain, I took the Princess through Sleeping Beauty’s castle and my dad took G-man to an arcade. He played the claw machine and won yet another stuffed animal. I seriously don’t know how that kid does it!
I’m starting to run out of space. I knew I couldn’t make this short and sweet, so I will save the rest for tomorrow, and probably the next day, and possible the next. I’ll try not to let the blog posts take as long as the trip itself! (I’m not guaranteeing anything!)
